About Eric
Eric Gonzalez is entering his fourth season as the Director of Rehab and Physical Therapy for the Cincinnati Reds. Prior to this position, Eric served as Minor League Physical Therapist and Assistant Rehab Coordinator in the 2021 and 2022 seasons. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from the University of South Alabama and his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Samford University. Prior to becoming a Physical Therapist, Eric was selected in the Major League Baseball Draft in two occasions by the Atlanta Braves and the San Diego Padres. He completed 6 years of professional baseball reaching the AAA level. Internationally, he played in the Venezuelan Winter League in 2010 and represented his native Spain for 16 years as a member of the National Team, competing in European Championships, World Championships, Olympic qualification tournaments, and the 2013 World Baseball Classic.
Eric has been a member of the Professional Baseball Physical Therapy Society since 2021 and is one of the faculty members for the Upper Extremity of the Athlete fellowship, partnering with Body Central Physical Therapy.
Fluent in both English and Spanish, Eric aims to continue supporting the Society’s domestic growth by contributing to its committees, engaging with local youth leagues, and promoting healthy habits among athletes of all ages. Internationally, he seeks to further expand and strengthen established partnerships with providers in Spain, Germany, Taiwan, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Curaçao, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, and Mexico.
