About Bernard
Bernard Li enters his second season with the Dodgers serving as the Major League Physical Therapist that he started in the 2022 season. He spent the 2021 season the Advisor of Athlete Care and Medical Services for the Seattle Mariners. Bernard stated his professional baseball career in 2011 and previously worked 10 seasons with the Los Angeles Angels in the Major Leagues spending the last 4 as Director of Player Performance/Head Physical Therapist. He also serves as Adjunct Faculty at the University of Southern California Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy. He received his Bachelors of Science in Physiological Sciences and minor in Exercise and Health Science from University of California Santa Barbara. Bernard obtained his Doctorate of Physical Therapy at the University of Southern California, and continued to distinguish himself by completing an orthopedic residency to obtain a Graduate Certificate in Orthopedic Physical Therapy at USC the following year. He is double board certified by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties, both as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist, and a Sports Clinical Specialist. He is a member of the Orthopedic Section and the Sports Section of the American Physical Therapy Association. Bernard has lectured on numerous topics that include therapeutic exercise, shoulder assessment, hip rehabilitation and published several journal articles and book chapters. In 2020 he was voted at Major League Baseball Winter Meetings “Best Research of 2020 Award” with his colleagues on the studies on ligament responses to stress in professional pitchers.
