Cleveland Guardians/Ohio State University Medical Center

The 12-month Upper Extremity Fellowship begins every September. Fellows are full-time employees of The Ohio State University Medical Center and work in collaboration with Ohio State Sports Medicine, the Cleveland Guardians and their Triple A affiliate, the Columbus Clippers. The fellowship begins with clinical care and mentoring from faculty at the Jameson Crane Sports Medicine Institute as well as Division 1 Collegiate Fall Baseball experience. In February, the fellow reports to Goodyear, AZ for a top-notch minor league spring training experience. In April, the fellow returns to Columbus where they will spend the entirety of the Triple A season with the Columbus Clippers, receiving excellent mentoring from the staff. This partnership provides fellows with a rare academic experience, from working at pro spring training camp to serving the Clippers throughout their season, our fellows are there every step of the way — and guided by experienced faculty and staff. The Upper Extremity Fellowship at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is accredited by the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education (ABPTRFE).

Requirements:

• Eligible for physical therapy licensure in the state of Ohio (required by beginning of fellowship) 
• Have one or more of the following:
  • Successful completion of an accredited sports or orthopedic residency program and/or a current specialist certification for the ABPTS in sports (SCS) or orthopedics (OCS)
  • Background working with upper extremity athletes
  • Demonstrate advanced competency in the field of Sports Physical Therapy
    • Minimum of 3 years of clinical practice in a sports medicine and/or baseball setting &; 
    • Completion of Emergency Responder Course or EMT-B training 
• Hold a current/valid CPR certification
